Peruvian citrus exports saw a significant increase of 37% in 2020 compared to the previous year, reaching 244,000 metric tons valued at US$262 million. This growth is attributed to the high demand for citrus, especially mandarins, due to their antioxidant properties and vitamin C content during the pandemic. Mandarin exports alone grew by 36% to a total of $250.4 million. The U.S., the Netherlands, Canada, China, and Russia were the main markets for these exports. Additionally, orange exports also saw a 46% increase. The primary regions for mandarin and orange production in Peru were Lima and Junín, respectively.
