(Agraria.pe) Indonesia, the largest economy in Southeast Asia, signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with Peru on August 11.

This agreement comprises nine chapters that include provisions on national treatment and market access for goods, rules and procedures of origin, customs procedures and trade facilitation, trade defense, technical barriers to trade, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, cooperation, dispute settlement, as well as transparency and institutional and legal aspects. Regarding trade in goods, Peru has achieved that 56% of Peruvian products will have immediate access with zero tariffs once the agreement comes into effect. Additionally, another group of products will have a tariff phase-out process of 5, 7, and 10 years. In this way, 86% of Peru's exportable offer will enter Indonesia duty-free.
