In May 2024, Peru experienced a significant surge in ginger exports, with a 17% increase in volume and a stunning 65% increase in value compared to the same month the previous year. The total export weight was 4,062 tons, earning the country $7.5 million. The United States emerged as the primary market, accounting for 60% of the exports, followed by the Netherlands with 21% and Canada with 9%. The price per kilogram of ginger also saw a notable rise, increasing by 41% compared to May 2023. This surge highlights a successful month for Peru's ginger export sector, with each of the main markets showing substantial growth in both volume and value.
