Peruvian onion exports recorded significant growth in July

Peruvian onion exports registered a notable growth in July, reaching a total of 37,402 tons worth $19.7 million, representing an increase of 62% in volume and 89% in value compared to the same period in 2023, according to FreshFruit. The United States was the main destination, although its share decreased considerably, from 92.5% to 58%. At the same time, Colombia and the Dominican Republic emerged as key markets, representing 14.4% and 13.8% of exports, respectively. The United States received 16,153 tons of onions in July 2024. However, the value of exports to this market grew by 19%, reaching $11.4 million, thanks to a 50% increase in the average price, which went from $0.47 to $0.71 per kilogram.
