The Peruvian fresh mango industry has seen significant growth in recent years, with expanded crops in regions such as Piura, Áncash, and Lambayeque. However, this year's production has been severely impacted by the El Niño phenomenon, resulting in shortages and significant price increases in major international markets. Shipments of fresh Peruvian mango have dropped by 31% in volume and value compared to the previous year, leading to a difficult situation for exporters. The shortage has also affected European and North American markets, with reduced shipments and increasing prices, while new suppliers from South Africa and Brazil are entering the market.
