Peruvian turmeric exports grew 16% in volume and 53% in value in August

(Agraria.pe) Peruvian turmeric exports reached 295 tons for US$ 672,000 in August 2024, registering an increase of 16% in volume and 53% in value, compared to the same month of the previous year. Likewise, in the month analyzed this year, the international price of this root was quoted at US$ 2.28 per kilogram, showing an increase of 32% compared to the price reported in August 2023. The Netherlands was the main destination, although its share decreased, going from 50.4% to 32.6% of shipments. This market received 121 tons for US$ 219,000 in August of this year. The average price at which turmeric was sold was US$ 1.80 per kilogram. Canada accounted for 23.2% of the total, remaining an important market by climbing and positioning itself as the second destination for Peruvian turmeric.
