In 2022, Peru's turmeric and ginger exports saw a decrease from the previous year, with turmeric exports amounting to US$3.6 million and ranking ninth globally, and ginger exports totaling US$64 million, placing Peru as the fourth largest exporter. The main markets for these exports included the Netherlands, Spain, and Canada for turmeric, and the Netherlands and the United States for ginger. In the first two months of 2023, ginger exports experienced a 5.2% increase, reaching US$14.46 million. The Association of Exporters (ADEX) announced these figures during the launch of Ginger Week, an event aimed at promoting the sustainable development of the ginger and turmeric sector in Peru.
