By Gabriela da Cunha Rio, 12/12/2025 - With an investment of R$ 100 million, Shell and Petrobras sign today (12), in Rio de Janeiro, a partnership to make viable the largest inventory of natural carbon stocks in the soil and vegetation ever carried out in Brazil. Named Carbon Countdown, the survey will cover 6,500 areas in the six Brazilian biomes and create a public database recognized by international standards. One of the objectives is to measure and monitor, according to a unique standard, the carbon stocks present in native vegetation, in agricultural areas, pastures, and regions of silviculture.
