Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Malaysia has decreased its import of green chili peppers from Thailand. In response, Thailand's Ministry of Commerce is purchasing 3,000 tons of green chili peppers from farmers in Songkhla and Nakhon Si Thammarat at not more than 5 baht/kg to support them. The Department of Internal Trade is also buying the produce at market price to prevent a drop in market value. Purchase points have been set up in these areas and more will be opening soon. Consumers are encouraged to buy from these points to support farmers and prevent a drop in market price. Inform the Hotline Department of Internal Trade or the Provincial Commercial Office nationwide if any unfair purchasing practices are observed.
