In October 2023, the Philippines made its first purchase of wheat flour from Russia since April 2019, buying 241 tons. This makes Russia the third largest supplier of wheat flour to the Philippines, following Vietnam and Taiwan. Additionally, Southeast Asian countries have increased their purchases of Russian buckwheat by 50%, reaching a record $1.1 million. Previously, the United States was the main grain exporter to the Philippines, but its supply fell by 40% in the first ten months of the previous year.
