The Philippines is expected to see a 2% increase in pork consumption in 2025, reaching 1.58 million tons CWE, according to the Global Agricultural Information Network (GAIN). This growth is despite higher inflation reducing consumer purchasing power and shifting preferences towards chicken and processed products. FAS Manila has revised its 2024 pork import estimate down to 480,000 tons CWE, but anticipates lower imports in the second half of the year. The tariff reduction on pork, extended until 2028 by EO 62, has provided greater certainty for meat importers.
