The Bulgarian pig breeding sector has proposed new rates for state aid to the Ministry of Agriculture, aimed at humane treatment of pigs. These rates have not been changed for two program periods and take into account inflation. The sector is concerned about the lack of mechanism for extraordinary aid, as opposed to other sectors. They have also requested crisis aid, but the response is not optimistic without a regular government. The sector also believes that the ceilings on funding for the Strategic Plan have been halved, making it difficult for producers to benefit.
