Due to increased demand for end of year celebrations, the prices of live pigs and pork carcasses have increased for the fourth consecutive month in various regions of Brazil. In the SP-5 region, the kilo of animal stored in cold stores increased by 5.3% to R$6.99 in December, while in Minas Gerais, the kilo of live food rose by 7.2% to an average of R$7.24. Additionally, in the wholesale market, pork prices for special and common carcasses increased by 6.3% and 6.1% respectively, and bone-in ham showed the most significant increase in value, at 2.8%.
