Malaysia: Pineapple market expanded to Osaka, Japan

ROMPIN: The MD2 pineapple market has now been expanded to Osaka thus contributing to an increase in the country's exports, said Chairman of the Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board (LPNM) Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali. To begin with, he said a container with a load of 4,355 fresh pineapples from a farm owned by Aqina Fruits Sdn Bhd here was exported to the rising sun country on Monday with part of it going to Osaka. Japan is a country that has been importing local pineapples for a long time and this time LPNM and the company have successfully penetrated the Osaka market in addition to Tokyo before. "LPNM very much welcomes pineapple exports because it can help the country in terms of the amount of local pineapple exports. In fact, at the board level, we will help as many industry players who wish to contribute to exports," he said.
