Pineapple production represents 50% of the fruit grown in Paraíba, says study

Pineapple production in Paraíba reaches levels close to 10,000 hectares planted per year, making the state the second largest producer of the fruit in the country. Pineapples alone accounted for more than 50% of the gross value of all fruit production in the state in 2021. The information comes from the Technical Office for Economic Studies of the Northeast (Etene), an agency linked to the Banco do Nordeste, which prepares and disseminates information socioeconomic conditions in the region. The coastal strip is the most cultivated area, with the mesoregions of Agreste and Mata Paraibana. The cities of Araçagi, Lagoa de Dentro, Itapororoca, Pedras de Fogo, Santa Rita, Cuité de Mamanguape and Curral de Cima concentrate 82% of all production in the state.
