Iran stands as a global leader in the pistachio industry, holding the title for the largest undercultivated area of pistachio orchards and ranking second in worldwide production. The country's Agriculture Ministry, through Dariush Salempour, highlights the pivotal role of pistachios in Iran's agriculture, noting efforts to boost production and exports. These efforts include collaboration with the FAO and pilot projects in key provinces, which have contributed to a significant increase in pistachio exports. Over an 11-month span in the last Iranian calendar year, Iran exported over 80 thousand tonnes of pistachios, bringing in $552 million, showcasing a notable rise in both the quantity and value of exports compared to the previous year.
