Poland calls for lowering quotas for Ukrainian chicken imports

The Polish Association of Poultry Producers is asking to reduce the quota for the import of Ukrainian chicken from the current 137 thousand to 90 thousand tons after June 2025. As the President of the National Poultry Council of Poland, Dariusz Goszczyński, emphasizes, this is exactly the volume that ensured market balance until 2021. “The limit of 137 thousand tons is not a dramatic restriction, but sufficient for some stabilization. Now we are counting on a return to the limit of 90 thousand tons, which was in effect until 2021 and was the point of equilibrium,” he said. Currently, more than two-thirds of Ukrainian poultry exports to the EU are provided by one producer - the MHP agroholding, which, according to Goszczyński, has a competitive advantage due to lower production costs.
