One of the most popular potato varieties in the Czech Republic and Slovakia are the Europlant varieties - Eurostarch, Antonia, Laura, Marabel Elfe and Anuschka. This was reported by the press service of Europlant, one of the leading potato breeding companies in Europe. It is noted that the area under seed potatoes in the Czech Republic and Slovakia is decreasing. Growers are looking for new sites in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands and the Tatras to grow healthy material with less use of chemical plant protection agents. In the Czech Republic, a total of 2,457 hectares of seed potatoes are grown, which is the lowest level ever. Of these, 915 hectares are occupied by varieties of the Europlant group of companies. The most popular variety in Czech breeding is the starch variety Eurostarch with 216.45 ha, followed by Antonia with 145.64 ha.
