Peru is investing in new port projects to boost its maritime trade, with the multimodal Port of Corío in the Arequipa region and the Chancay megaport. The Port of Corío, located in the province of Islay, is projected to move up to 100 million metric tons of cargo annually, supporting trade and the export of various products. Its deeper ocean depth of 28 meters allows larger ships. In contrast, Chancay megaport's depth is 17.9 meters. These projects are expected to have a significant economic impact, with Chancay generating $4.5 billion annually and creating 8,550 direct jobs, solidifying Peru's position as a key player in South American port development and global trade.
