Mass harvesting of ground vegetables is underway: cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, cabbage, and carrots
Since the beginning of the 2025 harvest campaign, the gross potato harvest in Russia has exceeded last year's figure by a third, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture reported.
"Harvesting in the country is entering an active phase. Farmers in the south and North Caucasus are already harvesting grain crops, early vegetables, and potatoes. Now mass harvesting is beginning in the Volga Region, Central Russia, and other regions. Potato harvesting rates are higher than last year's: to date, 240,000 tons have been collected — this is 36% more than for the same period in 2024 (+64,000 tons)," the message states.
The largest potato volumes have been harvested in the Astrakhan Region, Krasnodar Territory, and Stavropol Region. Active work is being carried out in new regions, Kabardino-Balkaria, Volgograd Region, and Crimea.
The Ministry of Agriculture also reported that ground vegetable harvesting is gaining momentum — as of July 16, 219,000 tons have been collected. "These include, in particular, cucumbers and tomatoes, early onions, cabbage, and carrots..."
