Potato seeds kept in rock-carved warehouses in Nevşehir are shipped to Turkey

Seed potatoes, which are kept in rock-cut natural cold storages in Nevşehir to prevent them from rotting, are shipped to different regions of Turkey for planting after going through various processes. In Nevşehir, warehouses carved into tuff rocks unique to Cappadocia meet the country's potato needs until the new harvest period and are used to preserve the seeds to be planted in the new season. Potato seeds, which are placed in 1321 licensed underground warehouses of different sizes in the region in the autumn, can remain in the environment with the humidity and heat they need for months without rotting, molding or freckling due to the natural structure. After the preservation process in the warehouses, the seeds taken from the cellars are poured onto the belts where workers line up in rows, and those that have spoiled are sorted.
