Potato harvests - according to statistical data - are higher this year compared to last year, while sugar beet harvests were lower. We turn to the document from the Main Statistical Office (GUS) titled "Estimated results of main agricultural and horticultural root crops in 2025" (we have already written about grain, corn, and rapeseed harvests – material in the link below). Its authors indicate that weather conditions in this year's growing season, although deviating from optimal, generally favored potato yield. "Due to significant regional rainfall shortages and their uneven distribution, the condition of the plantations was varied. Potato plant yield is therefore regionally and even locally differentiated. Potato digging began in the third decade of August and ended in October. The quality of tubers from this year's harvest is average," reports GUS.
