REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Indonesian Palm Oil Farmers' Union (SPKS) welcomed President Prabowo Subianto's statement calling palm oil a "miracle crop" during the 2026 National Coordination Meeting of Central and Regional Governments in Sentul, Bogor. According to SPKS, the statement is an important recognition of the strategic role of palm oil in supporting the national economy and the livelihoods of palm oil farmers in various regions. "Palm oil has long been a source of livelihood for millions of palm oil farmers," said SPKS Chairman Sabarudin, Wednesday (2/4/2026). However, the magnitude of this contribution needs to be accompanied by policies that truly provide protection and welfare for palm oil farmers. "There needs to be protection for palm oil farmers whose contributions are significant to the national economy," Sabarudin said.
