REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto said that Indonesia is targeted to no longer import corn by 2026 after successfully achieving self-sufficiency in the commodity. Prabowo's statement on corn self-sufficiency is based on a report received from Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman. While attending the simultaneous corn harvest and launching the first corn export to Malaysia in Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan, on Thursday (5/6/2025), President Prabowo said that in 2024, Indonesia still needs to import around 500,000 tons of corn. "Around 2026, we won't import anymore, Mr. Minister? Export! Thank you.
