Price turnaround of NPK in Brazil

In the last thirty days, the NPK fertilizer market in Brazil has registered a significant change in prices, marking what Jeferson Souza, a market intelligence analyst, calls a "turning point." According to Souza, this change is mainly explained by seasonality and the record volume of imports in the country. During the first half of the year, prices for phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) showed continuous increases. However, starting from the end of July, this trend began to reverse. Souza emphasizes that although Brazil is importing record volumes of fertilizers, the proportion of nutrients does not follow this growth: there have been increases in imports of ammonium sulfate, SSP, and NP, but there has been a decrease in urea and MAP, keeping the nitrogen level stable and promoting a slight increase in phosphorus.
