The quality of the hazelnuts is comparatively higher (although we are still far from Turkish hazelnuts), the quantity has also increased. This led to an increase in export indicators relative to those that were a year earlier. A certain role was played by the fact that at the beginning of the season Georgian hazelnuts were much cheaper than Turkish ones. Now the prices on the local market have increased in comparison with the beginning of the season, in particular, because the enterprises receive already dried hazelnuts. The purchase prices for unpeeled hazelnuts at the moment, depending on the quality, are 6-7 lari ($ 1.8 - $ 2.2) per 1 kg. And export prices for hazelnut kernels (including transportation to Europe) reached $ 6.2- $ 6.3 per 1 kg, and these are quite high prices when compared with the situation in the global market. - Are export prices now about the same as a year earlier, or, against the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic, relatively lower?
