Prices for sunflower oil in Ukraine have started to decline. Following attacks on tankers and a jump in freight rates, processors are trying to pass on the additional costs to purchase prices, says Serhiy Repetskyy, a partner at Sunstone Brokers, in a comment to Latifundist.com. "Prices for oil within the country are decreasing. Farmers are being offered 500 UAH less than a week ago — and this is just the beginning. If the farmer agrees, they will lower it further, because these 500 UAH do not fully compensate for the rise in freight rates and the drop in prices on world markets," says Repetskyy. He notes that plants are trying to contract volumes at least until Christmas, after which a pause is expected.
