Prices of fruits and vegetables vary by more than 50 percent throughout Brazil

A new survey by Price Survey, a Minas Gerais company considered the “Uber of market research”, registered variations above 55% in the prices of fruits and vegetables in Brazil in several locations in the country. Three states were evaluated, with a total of eight cities: Fortaleza and Eusébio, in Ceará; Rio de Janeiro - RJ; and Bauru, Itapetinga, Jundiaí, Marília and Orlândia, in São Paulo. The survey was carried out between April 2022 and January 2023 and recorded a great deal of nonsense in prices: while consumers from São Paulo pay R$ 7.79 per kilo of midget banana, for example, people from Ceará pay R$ 3.24 for the same product. According to the survey, Ceará was the state with the best prices for the consumer's pocket, to the detriment of the rest of the country. Buying fruits and vegetables there was 30.15% cheaper than in the other municipalities evaluated, with Eusébio being the cheapest city, with an average of products in the range of R$ 5.77.
