Cherry production in Pella, Greece has been affected by adverse weather conditions, with early and mid-early varieties suffering from rain and cold temperatures, leading to quality issues and reduced yields. Despite these challenges, producer prices remain low, ranging from 1.5 to 2 euros per kilo for good quality cherries and 2 to 2.5 euros for the first quality cherries. The season is expected to see higher prices for consumer cherries in the market, despite the low producer prices and the serious issue of a lack of land workers. Additionally, fertilization issues have been reported for the mid-early variety cherries, which are due to start harvesting from early June.
