(Gunsan=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Jin-bang = Gunsan City in North Jeolla Province announced on the 15th that it will conduct an eco-friendly joint pest control on 2,993 hectares of farmland to produce high-quality rice.
This accounts for 27% of the total rice cultivation area, with approximately 1.59 billion won planned for the purchase of eco-friendly insecticides and fungicides.
The city held the 'Gunsan City Environment-Friendly Rice Joint Pest Control Council' with local agricultural cooperatives, agricultural organizations, and farmers in attendance.
At this council meeting, they decided on ▲ the support range for eco-friendly pesticides ▲ support unit price and project budget ▲ number and timing of pest control ▲ pesticide selection and supply method.
They also discussed the current and projected pest and disease occurrence and collaborated on a joint pest control system for timely intervention.
Kim Sang-gi, director of the Food Policy Division, said, "Through eco-friendly joint pest control, we will reduce farm management costs, maximize the area of eco-friendly rice cultivation and pest control effectiveness, and strive to enhance the high-quality image and brand value of Gunsan rice."
