The broiler chicken production cost in Paraná was R$4.28 per kilo, with an accumulated decrease of -3.1% for the year. Pig production cost in Santa Catarina was R$5.63 per kilo, with a decrease of -9.3% for the year. Feed was the primary cost factor, contributing to 66.1% and 72.9% of the total cost for broiler chicken and pigs respectively. The Embrapa Swine and Poultry research institute uses the states of Santa Catarina and Paraná as references to monitor cost trends in the poultry and pig farming sectors.
