Brazil: Production costs for broiler chickens and pork rose slightly in April

Pig and broiler production costs rose slightly in April in the leading states in production and exports, according to studies recorded by Embrapa Swine and Poultry in its Poultry and Swine Intelligence Center (embrapa.br/suínos- e-aves/cias). In Paraná, the production cost of a kilo of broiler chicken was R$4.28, an increase of 0.1% compared to March. The accumulated result for the year is -3.1% and in the last twelve months it is -14.1%, with the ICPFrango reaching 330.95 points. The cost of feed fell by -0.3% in the month, but was offset by the increase in costs with day-old chicks and interest on capital for investment. Feed was the main cost item with a share of 66.1%, while genetics and interest on invested capital represented 15.4% and 3.3% of the total cost, respectively. The production cost per kilo of live pigs in Santa Catarina was R$5.63, an increase of 0.2% compared to March.
