The provinces of Manica, Zambézia and Nampula are the largest seed producers in Mozambique, and, in the 2021/22 campaign, production growth was driven by the demand for seeds from the crops chosen by the SUSTENTA Program such as (corn, soy, sesame, beans, rice and peanuts). On the other hand, in the balance sheet of the Agricultural Inputs sub-sector in the 21/22 Agricultural Campaign, presented by MADER, it was explained that the agricultural sector used 11,969 tons of seeds, registering an average growth of 58% in the last three years. “Once again, the SUSTENTA Program was responsible for increasing the use of seeds, through the promotion of around 50% of the certified seed, used in this campaign, in a volume of 5930 tons”, emphasizes the document.
