Chile's egg production saw a year-on-year increase of 6.7% in December 2023, reaching over 339 million units, as reported by the National Institute of Statistics. This surge was primarily due to an increase in the production of both white and colored eggs. The number of laying hens also rose by 3.7%, totaling over 14 million. The Metropolitan Region contributed the most to the national total, followed by the Valparaíso Region. Distributors dominated egg marketing in the second half of 2023, with a 53.6% share, and 93% of eggs were produced under the Conventional or Cage System.
