Production of meal in Germany has slightly decreased.

In the 2024/25 season, Germany produced slightly less meal than in the previous year. However, German compound feed plants processed more of it than a year earlier. Lately, domestic production of oilseed meal has shown a slight downward trend. According to the Federal Office of Agriculture and Food (BLE), Germany produced about 8.1 million tons of meal in the 2024/25 season, which is about 1.2% less than in the previous marketing year. Rapeseed meal, which accounts for almost 67%, remains the most important source of protein. Its production reached just under 5.4 million tons, which is about 1.1% lower than the previous year. Supplies from the small rapeseed harvest in Germany in 2024 were supplemented by imports from Australia, Ukraine, and Canada.
