Production of tilapia grows by 4% in São Paulo

The Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply of the State of São Paulo informed that the pisciculture in São Paulo maintained a growth trajectory in 2025, with a highlight on tilapia production. Preliminary data from the Value of Aquiculture Production in São Paulo indicate a 4% increase in the volume produced compared to 2024, reaching 54,170 tons, while the revenue totaled R$ 494.11 million. The survey is from the Institute of Agricultural Economics (IEA-APTA), linked to the Secretariat. With this performance, São Paulo maintains the second position among the largest tilapia producers in the country, behind Paraná. Processing is concentrated in 21 slaughterhouses, responsible for 86% of the state's slaughter, although part of the production is still destined for units in Mato Grosso do Sul and Minas Gerais.
