Production potential of blueberries in Turkey

ÇUKUROVA University (ÇÜ) Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Horticulture, Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Ebru Yaşa Kafkas stated that blueberries, known to prevent cancer and described as a 'super food' in the world, can be grown in all 7 regions of Turkey by using different methods and the right variety, and said, "We have a production potential of 100 thousand tons for blueberries in our country." Studies have shown that blueberries are protective against cancer, and interest in their production and consumption has increased in Turkey as well as in the world in recent years. According to TÜİK data, the amount of blueberries produced in Turkey in 2020, when production began in Turkey, was 1,287 tons, while this figure increased to 5,274 tons according to 2023 data.
