Project Innovate Mango aims to elevate the competitiveness of the fruit in Piura

(Agraria.pe) With the aim of increasing productivity, generating added value, and consolidating the positioning of Piura mango in international markets, the project "Strengthening the competitiveness and sustainability of the Piura mango value chain – Innova Mango Piura" was presented in the region, reported the Andina News Agency. The initiative—which has the support of Switzerland through its Economic Cooperation—seeks to turn Piura into a global benchmark for sustainability and innovation in mango, directly benefiting small producers and their families. The program will be executed by the Asociación Progreso with the support of the Swiss program SeCompetitivo, implemented by Helvetas. The intervention will reach 446 producers grouped in nine cooperative associations in Morropón and Piura, where work will be done on reducing critical gaps such as low yields, post-harvest losses, lack of standardization, and limited market diversification.
