Peru: Promperú and Cepal train coffee and cocoa producers in updated European regulations

In a joint effort to promote the sustainability and continuity of international trade, the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (Promperú), through its Sustainable Culture strategy, and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean ( Cepal), developed workshops aimed at coffee and cocoa producers in the towns of Jaén in Cajamarca and Quillabamba in Cusco. The workshops, held on October 6 and 11 respectively, brought together more than 70 representatives of producer organizations to explore the challenges and opportunities linked to the new European Union regulations on deforestation-free products. The focus of these workshops was to provide detailed knowledge about the new European Union regulations to prevent the marketing in the EU market of products associated with deforestation and forest degradation, having a period of 18 months to adapt to these regulations.
