Canadian pulse industry groups, Pulse Canada and the Canadian Special Crops Association, have received nearly $4.6 million in federal funding to boost domestic consumption and international market expansion of peas, beans, and lentils. The funding, part of the AgriMarketing program, will support efforts to increase processing, promote sustainability, and technical support for these crops. The goal is to reach 25% of production in new markets or uses by 2025, targeting significant increases in processing and consumption of these pulses. Additionally, the funding addresses market access issues and explores international opportunities, aligning with the federal minister's emphasis on expanding Canadian-made protein products and promoting sustainable farming practices.
