Pulses worth Rs 7.64 billion imported via Birgunj in six months

PARSA, Feb 1: Pulses worth Rs 7.64 billion have been imported through Birgunj during the first six months of the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26, according to customs officials. The imports include seven different types of pulse-based food items. Birgunj Customs Office Information Officer Uday Singh Bista said pulse imports increased by 31 percent in the first six months of the current FY compared to the same period last FY. During the first six months of the previous FY, pulses worth Rs 5.83 billion were imported through Birgunj. In contrast, imports during the corresponding period this FY reached Rs 7.64 billion. According to customs data, lentils accounted for the largest share of imports, with lentils worth Rs 3.82 billion imported during the review period.
