The Regional Government of Puno, through the Special Project of South American Camelids (Pecsa), inaugurated the last Alpaca Breeder Production Center in the peasant community of Chapioco, Ocuvirí district, Lampa province, with the aim of improving productivity and raising the quality of alpaca fiber in the region. The vice governor of Puno, Eladia Margot De La Riva Valle, stated: "Mission accomplished. This is the inauguration of the last Breeder Production Center. Today we are delivering infrastructure, but also male and female alpacas." Each Breeder Production Center was built on an area of 5,600 m2 of land, with an investment of over S/ 1,616,000.
