On June 30th, Pyeongtaek City held a rice planting demonstration at the powdered rice production site in Oseong-myeon. The demonstration was hosted by Agricultural Corporation Jippuragi (CEO Park Soon-chul) and attended by Kang Jung-gu, Chair of the Pyeongtaek City Council, Gyeonggi Provincial Council members Yoon Seong-geun and Seo Hyun-ok, Kim Gyeong-dong, Director of the Agricultural Products Quality Management Office in Pyeongtaek, Lee Won-jae, Head of the Food Crop Technology Team at the City Agricultural Technology Center, and powdered rice district farmers. Powdered rice (Baromi 2) is a new variety developed by the Rural Development Administration that is receiving positive responses for its potential to replace imported flour, improve food self-sufficiency, and stabilize rice supply. Typically, rice planting occurs from mid-May to mid-June.
