The increase in areca prices brings good income to people in Vietnam

According to statistics of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Son Tay district (Quang Ngai province), the price of areca is being purchased by traders from 45,000 to 48,000 VND/kg, this price is relatively high compared to the average of the years. The areca tree has really brought a good income for local people. Hundreds of households have income of 100 million VND/year or more. There are households earning from 500 million VND/year to more than 1 billion VND/year such as: Mr. Dinh Van Hanh, Dinh Van Min, Dinh Van Yen, Dinh Van Buong, Dinh Van Veo (Son Tinh commune, Son Tay district); Dinh Van Chut, Dinh Van Cham; Dinh Van Khon, Dinh Thi Pon, Dinh Van Dieu (Son Long commune); Dinh Van Ton, Dinh Van Trong, Dinh Van Do, Dinh Van Sau (Son Dung commune)… Son Tay district is known as the "land of thousands of areca" with an area of more than 1,022 hectares.
