The article reports that the quarantine in the Russian village of Petrokovo, introduced due to the detection of the African swine fever (ASF) virus in August, will be extended until October 30. The quarantine, which was implemented to control the spread of the virus, includes restrictions on the movement of pigs and the hunting of wild boar within a radius of 8 km. Since the beginning of 2021, the Vladimir region has seen 12 outbreaks of ASF, primarily on personal subsidiary farms. The article suggests that wild fauna may be a contributing factor in the spread of the virus on farms.
