In a significant achievement for the beekeeping industry, two breeding establishments in the Middle Valley of Río Negro, 'Cabaña Antünei' and 'Cabaña Colmenares del Valle', have exported a total of 1,400 queen bees of the Apis Mellifera Buckfast variety along with 9,800 companion bees to Italy and Spain. This export operation was meticulously overseen by the Patagonia Norte Regional Center of Senasa, which ensured that the bees were healthy, free from any clinical signs of diseases or infestations, and originated from areas not affected by American Foulbrood disease or exotic pests like the small hive beetle or the Tropilaelaps spp. mite. The bees underwent thorough health evaluations and received all necessary certifications before their shipment, marking a successful international collaboration in the beekeeping sector.
