Cibo Labs, a agricultural data analytics company, has found that rainfall alone may underestimate grazing potential in Australia's cattle-growing regions. The company's analysis of 2024 data in Queensland, northern NSW, Victoria, and Western Australia, revealed that other factors such as local pasture resilience, groundwater availability, management, and reduced grazing pressure, play a role. The data showed that some areas, like Dalby in Queensland, were able to benefit from rainfall, while others, like Charters Towers, showed active growth despite reduced rainfall. The company's tools, such as the Australian Feedbase Monitor and PastureKey, can be used to inform grazing management strategies.
