Rainy season brings record price of Vietnamese pineapple; Tien Giang farmers reap bountiful harvest

In recent days, the price of pineapple in Tien Giang province has increased from 11,000 VND/kg to 12,000 - 13,000 VND/kg, the highest price in many years. With this price, pineapple growers earn a profit of more than 6,000 VND/kg. According to pineapple farmers, although there have been many heavy rains in recent days, because the pineapple fields are located in dyke areas and the canals are clear, they are not flooded. Moreover, pineapple fields are very fertile in the rainy season, yielding more than 50 tons/ha/year. Tan Phuoc district is the only locality in Tien Giang province in the Dong Thap Muoi region that can grow over 15,400 hectares of specialized pineapple. With the current stable price, farmers earn nearly 500 million VND/year from each hectare of pineapple, the highest compared to other fruit trees in this locality.
