For decades, livestock farming coexisted with a silent paradox: producing on the system's main input—grass—without measuring it. This lack of information is not an operational detail, but one of the biggest causes of inefficiency on a global scale. This is confirmed by Alejandra Marino, co-founder of Pastech: “A global problem that affects all livestock systems on the planet is that 90% of producers do not measure how much grass they have or know how much feed they have for the cattle.” The reason is clear. Measuring grass was, historically, expensive, slow, and not very accurate. “It has a high cost, not only economically, but it also takes a lot of time and effort, and as it is not done correctly, many methodologies have very low precision,” explains Marino. The result is a chain of losses that directly impacts productivity: more supplementation, less efficiency, soil degradation, and lower production of meat and milk.
