Buffalo farmers in Huong Phong commune, Hue City are facing challenges due to a sharp decrease in buffalo prices, leading to a lack of buyers. In response, farmers are slaughtering the buffaloes themselves for sale to generate profit. The province aims to encourage farmers to keep the buffaloes until prices increase, and suggest raising buffaloes in areas with grassland advantages. The use of locally available food and agricultural by-products as feed is recommended to reduce livestock costs. Establishing cooperative groups and associations in livestock production is also suggested to avoid price pressure and to consume products. Other strategies include vaccinating against diseases, preventing hunger and cold for livestock, and promoting the processing of microbiological fertilizers from cattle and buffalo waste to increase revenue.
