The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Vietnam has set a new target for agricultural exports at about 45 billion USD for 2021, due to positive trends in the export of agro-forestry-fishery products. This is higher than the government's allocated target of 3 billion USD. The first half of the year saw increased exports of various products such as rubber, cashew nuts, cassava, timber, rattan, bamboo, and shrimp, despite challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic and pressure at border gates. The country plans to expand its agricultural market to economies with complementary product structures and negotiate to remove trade and technical barriers. The article also highlights the need to address new barriers in export markets due to the COVID-19 pandemic and increase in production and logistics costs.
